ART I
Art 1 is a class intended to introduce students to the basic visual vocabulary and basic drawing skills. The emphasis of the course will include the elements and principles of design and focus on the improvement of visual composition. Various media and techniques will be explored in different lessons and exercises throughout the semester. Students will be taught and encouraged to explore creative solutions to problems presented. Students will be motivated in every exercise through historical and student visual examples. Students will be introduced to art criticism and expected to participate in class critiques. Aesthetic questions and lateral thinking exercises will be incorporated to enhance critical thinking skills.
